On Tuesday April 7th 2009, At aprox. 1330 hours Southfield Fire Dispatch, Dispatched report of smoke in a building on the 2nd floor of the 2 story office building. At 16310 12 Mile & Pierce. Upon arrival the 1st company reported showing from the "C" side of the building. Command then request a 3rd Station respond to the scene. Companies started an interior attack on the building aprox. 60 X 150 2 Story. Crews encountered some water problems at the location. At this time command advised all crews to evacuated the building until a good water source was secured. At this time fire conditions worsened. The fire appeared to be in the attic space of the building. Command went totally defensive on this fire. Tower 5 was set up in the rear of the building and addition resources from the Southfield Fire Dept were requested and off duty call backs were made. With All Apparatus committed command requested mutual aid bring Royal Oak FD to the scene with an Engine, Chief and Truck (Bronto Skylift). And Bloomfield Township FD to fill in Southfield station. This fire was fought totally Defensive using 2 tower ladders and with 5 Engines pumping. Companies operated at this scene for about 4 hours. The building was a total loss with roof loss and building collapse.
