On Wednesday June 2nd 2010, at aprox. 5:00 pm The Oak Park Public Safety Department responded to a report of smoke in the building at 23111 Coolidge & 9 Mile Rd. Upon arrival 1st officer on the scene reported heavy smoke showing from the 1 story 250 X 150 occupied commercial building, Oak Park Public Safety prepared for fire attack. While attempting an attack on the fire the interior ceilings were starting to collapse. Incident Command order all crews to stay out of the building and started an Defensive attack on this fire. Oak Park DPS requested off duty call backs and requested mutual aid from Beverly Hills Public Safety, Ferndale Fire Department and the Troy Fire Department. Ladder pipe, several handlines and ground monitors were put into operation. The building had roof collapse and 2 business were a total loss. Crews worked through the night to bring this fire under control.
