On Saturday April 3rd 2010, Engine 56 responded to 3039 E 7 Mile between Charest & Mitchell for a reported vehicle fire. Engine 56 arrived on the scene and reported a vehicle inside a commercial building and requested the box alarm. E56 stretched on the 1 story 100 X 50 commercial building. Companies made an interior attack on the fire and vertical ventilation was started and the truck crew reported fire between the flat roof and trusses. Crew's were not making progress due to fire in between the roofs and Chief 8 pulled crews out of the building and requested a 2nd Alarm. Hazmat was also requested due to welding tanks and paint/chemicals in the building. Ladder 17's platform Ladder 30's ladder pipe, several monitors and handlines operated for aprox. 2 hours to bring this fire under control, With 4 Engines stretched. Engines 56/40/44/51/23/35/39/50 Ladder 18/30/17/16 Squad 5/3 Hazmat 1 Chief 8/5 and Car 203 responded to this box alarm.
