On Tuesday May 10th 2011, Detroit Fire Department received a report of a building on fire at Linwood & Fenkell. Upon arrival of Squad 5 they reported a fire the Robeson Academy at 2701 Fenkell and reported a doubtful. Engine 40 arrived on the scene and stretched on the 5 story school. Squad 5 requested a 2nd alarm for fire in the attic and through the roof of the building. Chief 5 arrived on the scene and assumed incident command. Companies prepared for aerial operations. Ladder 17 & Ladder 28 were set up in the front of the building. Car 203 (Senior Chief) arrived and took command of the incident. 203 then requested an additional platform too the scene (Ladder 7). Companies operated in defensive mode for aprox. 3 hours too bring this fire under control using 2 aerial platforms and 1 ladder pipe with 4 Engines pumping. The fire was contained too the attic and roof of the building the fire burned the roof off the length of the building, Engines 40/30/51/39/17/35/44 Ladder 17/28/7 Squad 5/2 Chief 5/4 Car 203 & 100 responded too this incident.
