On Tuesday December 2nd 2008, The Hamtramck Fire Department responded to a report of a building fire at Lumpkin & Andrus. Upon arrival there was a working fire. HFD started an attack on the fire and switched to defensive operations after not making progress. Off Duty call backs were made for HFD personal. This fire was fought in defensive mode. Hamtramck FD responded with Engines 1,2 & 4, Rescue 1 & Tower 1. Mutual aid was requested from Highland Park FD for another Tower. Companies operated through the night to bring this fire under control.
